Thankfulness - 3/1/2026 - Watch on You Tube
| Luke 17:11-19 |
Jesus healed ten lepers, yet only one comes
back to thank Him. It can be very easy to hope and pray for
God to intervene in our lives, and when He does we may
forget to thank Him. The answer is not to take on a strict
religious spirit to track our prayers, but we should stay in
a thankful attitude and be aware how the Lord has moved on
our behalf. |
| Rom. 1: 16-21 |
Being unthankful is symptomatic of issues in
our walk with the Lord. Ultimately it is on the path to
serious degradation. Unthankful people will also exhibit
depression, anger, unrighteousness, and agreement with sin.
These are not traits that reflect God's Holiness or His
presence in our lives. |
| Psa. 30 |
Being thankful opens the door to your prayer
being heard before God. It keeps us in the right spirit. Too
many assume they are worthy of God's favor just for who they
are, and are ignorant that all the goodness/favor we have
comes from above. In the eons to come, we will be giving
thanks to God for ever. |
| Matt. 15:32-39 |
Even when you have little, or nothing at all,
give thanks. Our primary example is Jesus feeding the
multitude. He gave thanks to the Father and broke what they
had. As one preacher put it - when you are down to nothing,
then for the first time you may understand that Jesus is
enough. |
| Eph. 5:17-21 |
Some will say "are you crazy? - give thanks
always for all things". Yes, because that attitude allows
God to work. Unbelief that God will intervene hinders your
blessing. We all quote "all things work together" (Rom.
8:28) which includes all the hard things in life. So, we can
be thankful. |
| Rev. 4 |
It is amazing to think that all the heavenly
host are thankful before the Lord. Praising God and thanking
Him will be in our future for ever before His throne. How
much more should we be thankful now (regardless of present
circumstances), being redeemed from everlasting destruction
to dwell in holiness in the mansions He is building for His
saints (John 14) |
Grumbling and complaining about situations or events does not carry the day to victory - it only digs the pit deeper. Not thanking God when He answers your prayers reflects an attitude of being ungrateful. When we finally stand before the Lord in heaven, we will understand the depth (Rom 3:38-39) that Jesus went to keep us. We need to have a thankful/grateful spirit to the Lord, Who is full of mercy and grace, to let Him shine a light through us, and show the world there is a Savior Who loves them too. "O, give thanks unto the Lord, for He is good: for His mercy endureth forever." (Psa. 107)
