Great and Small - 8/24/2025 - Watch on You Tube

James 2:1-13
The world judges people by various measures - money, beauty, clothing, race, position, etc. If God looks on the hearts (and knows the thoughts), then how are Bible believing people supposed to judge? We need the mind of Christ without resorting to the world's standards.By what measure you judge, you shall be judged. Where we judge by the world, we need God's cleansing/changing of our motives.
Deu. 1:13-18
Too many quote "judge not" and wrongly try to avoid the whole issue, or try to condemn others by their standards. Situations need righteous judgment, without bias and without respect of persons, evaluating in the fear of God.
Psa. 115:11-13
Do we judge someone's walk with the Lord by our own biases? The Lord blesses all that fear him.
Acts 26:19-23
Do we withhold testifying to the glory of God based on our biases or outward prejudice? Do we judge people unworthy (or worthy) of heaven based on prejudging someone? The great commission is to preach the Gospel to ALL nations.
Rev. 20:11-15
At the great white throne of judgment all will be judged according to the records of their lives. His record is perfectly accurate and there is no bypass. "If thou, Lord, shouldest mark iniquities, O Lord, who would stand?" (Psa. 130:3) The ONLY defense is being saved by Jesus Christ, the Righteous. (1 John 2:1)
Luke 18:9 5-14
What would you trust if your eternity depended on it? Many trust in fulfilling religious duty and pride themselves in it. While it may feel self-justifying, it avails nothing before the throne of heaven. Trusting Jesus, repenting, and depending on God's mercies avails everything.
Mark 11:12-14, 20-26
What will Jesus say when He looks for the fruit of the Spirit in your life? No one is assured of tomorrow - make your calling and election sure. (2 Peter 1:10)  "We walk by faith, not by sight." (2 Cor 5:7) We need to believe the promises when praying for ourselves and others. Jesus ends the teaching with a requirement for answered prayer - forgive. Without you forgiving others, great and small, why would you expect God to forgive your sins?

How we treat others is a great indicator of what is in your heart. (Matt. 15:18) Sooner or later the thoughts of the heart will come out of the mouth, and all the hidden prejudices will be exposed. Jesus said the first great commandment is to love the Lord with all your heart, soul, and mind. The second naturally follows - love your neighbor as yourself (Matt. 22:36-40)  If we despise someone made in God's image (Gen1:26), how will God judge us? And, how does despising show the love of God? God weighs the hearts, and righteously judges great and small.
