Famine - 12/14/2025 - Watch on You Tube
| Psa. 119:105, 9 |
"Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet". We cannot
understand ourselves, including our feelings and motives,
without the Word giving us insight and direction. You cannot
understand the world around you without the Word to give
understanding. |
| Eph. 5:25-28 |
As in Psa. 119:9, The Word washes us,
cleanses us from sin, so that we can stand before the Lord
with a pure conscience. Repentance is acknowledging past
sins, asking forgiveness, and walking in the light of God's
Word. |
| Amos 8:11-13 |
We too easily ascribe the famine of God's
Word to the 400 year intertestimental period between Malachi
and Matthew. But the actual words say 'but of hearing
the words of the Lord'. God speaking is not the problem, but
who is willing to hear. |
| 2 Tim. 4:1-4 |
People today would rather follow their owns
feelings (lusts) rather than God's anointed Word. Rather
than sound doctrine they will find some teacher/preacher to
justify their lusts. Rejecting God's Word closes the hearing
and leads to destruction. How is society doing today without
the Word? What great intellect has solved the world's sin
ills or brought peace? |
| Acts 3:22-24 |
Moses prophesied "that prophet" (Deu.
18:15-19) would come - meaning Jesus. Closing the ears to
Jesus and His Words leads to terrible consequences. Yet even
people in the church do this. You cannot dissect God's Word
and chose the parts you like and reject the rest. You must
eat the "whole roll". |
| Prov. 29:1 |
Repeated rejections of the Lord's reproval in
the Word comes about by hardening one's heart. God is nigh
to those of a broken and contrite heart, but far from a
proud hard heart. |
| Jer 5:20-24 |
Many today claim knowledge and understanding,
but do they fear God? Do they go about to establish their
own righteousness based on their own intellect? It is a
serious warning to have a revolting and rebellious heart. |
| Jer 42 |
Just because people say they believe Jesus
does not mean they actually serve Him. The Bible uses the
term dissimulation - faking it. Many shall say in that day
"Lord, Lord" and what was Jesus' answer? The Lord knows your
inner thoughts. We need to be honest before Him. (Rev.
3:15-16) |
| Dan. 12:1-4 |
In this age, technology has greatly increased
and many run to find justification for their sin. But, God's
Word yet shines bright to those that have ears to hear. |
| Matt 24:3-13 |
Not only is technology increasing but also
deception and iniquity. There are many paths to God they
say, to deceive. Standing for the truth of the Word has cost
God's true servants short term, but we must endure to the
end for our reward. |
| Eph. 4:11-16 |
The Lord put His servants in place to teach
us His ways and to fix our faults. He does not want us
double minded but stable in the faith to withstand the
onslaughts of the age and to take our rightful place in the
body of Christ. |
| Amos 8:11-13 |
Do not be a neglectful hearer of God's Word
or think you know better than God. Be conformable to Jesus
and let your mind and life be renewed. (Rom. 2:12) |
The phrase "take heed" occurs 55 times in scripture and is a good
Bible study. Jesus said "take heed therefore how you hear". (Luke
8:18) Filtering God's Word through your carnal nature prevents you
from hearing what God actually said or desires for your lives.
Repeating that filtering process (God could NOT have meant that!)
only hardens our hearts. Thankfully, the Lord, in His mercy,
continues to send His Word in the hope that people will hear. But,
while long suffering, even mercy has limits. Israel is a prime
example. Though God's people, they suffered severe consequences by
forsaking Him and turning to idolatry. "Seek the Lord while He may
be found, call ye upon Him while He is near." (Isa. 55:6) Open
your ears today to His full counsel.
Amen. God bless you. -- Pastor
Paul
