Enemies in the Land - 7/20/2025 - Watch on You Tube
| Judges 3:1-4 |
After acknowledging our sins and claiming
Jesus as Lord of our lives, our relationship to the Lord is
secure, but now a battle begins. Satan does not take our
salvation lightly and brings his power to bear, intent on
turning us back to sin. God uses this battle teach us how to
fight for ourselves and others. The Lord also uses this
battle to prove whether we were sincere and will persevere
to the end. |
| Luke 8:4-15 |
The sower released God's Word on four
different types of ground. Some fell by the wayside - people
did not hear and rejected it. Some fell on rock where the
Word was received but hard hearts would not let the Word
penetrate further than the surface. Some seed fell thorns
where the cares and sins of this life choked the life out.
Finally, some fell on good ground where the Word could
penetrate deep and flourish unto life eternal. Which ground
is your heart like? |
| Rev. 3:14-22 |
There is a severe warning to self-satisfied
Christians who depend on their riches and do not fully trust
in the Lord. As in Luke 13:25, many will say "Lord, Lord" in
that day. And what is the Lord's response to lukewarm ones? |
| Zeph. 1:1-6 |
When God comes for judgment who will
withstand Him? There are three groups particularly noted.
One, there are those who claim they are God's but live in
the sins of the flesh. Two, there are those who are turned
back from the Lord. (This negates the 'once saved, always
saved' doctrine.) And three, those that did not seek God.
Where will you stand when God makes inquiry? |
| Josh 24:14-15 |
This is Joshua's famous declaration, "As for
me and my house". We need to make our calling and election
sure. (2 Peter 1:10) We need to build our house on the Rock
of Jesus Christ. (Luke 6:48) We do this by not only
declaring in faith but by living it every day, regardless of
the battles to pull us away. Our God is faithful. (1 Cor.
10:13) |
| John 8:30-32 |
After receiving the Word, we need to let
fully grow in our hearts as seed in good soil. Let His Word
have full sway in our life - conduct, actions, words, and
motives. |
| 2 Pet 1-12 |
Nobody likes to fail. Having received Jesus
as you Savior, grow in grace and let the Lord bring you
decisively through battles with flesh and devil. "For if you
do these things, you shall never fall." |
It's human nature to want things easy. Some believe they deserve
good things because of who they are. All great accomplishments
have come through work and sacrifice. This is true for people, as
well as nations. This is also true in God's economy. While we do
not earn heaven through religious acts (For by grace are ye saved
through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God -
Eph 2:8.), we must prove to God that we are worthy (And they
overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their
testimony, and they loved not their lives unto the death - Rev.
12:11) The "trial of our faith" (1 Peter 1:7) is to equip us for
the Lord's return. Remember, the battle is the Lord's (1 Sam.
17:47) who always causes us to triumph (2 Cor. 2:14). Onward,
Christian soldiers!
Amen. God bless you. -- Pastor
Paul
